The Mysterious Melody of the Pure Palace

In the spring of the thirty-seventh year of the Kangxi reign, twelve-year-old Aisin Gioro Mingshu, the emperor's twelfth daughter, was struck by heavenly lightning while gravely ill. Miraculously, she survived. The strange event gave her the uncanny power to see into people's hearts: countless inner thoughts flooded her mind, leaving court intrigues, harem schemes, and undercurrents within the household impossible to hide.

She had been the most inconspicuous, frail princess in the inner palace, the younger sister born of the same mother as the future Yongzheng Emperor, and a daughter the Consort De valued less than the Fourteenth Prince. But after the lightning strike, she became the most dangerous wildcard in the Forbidden City.
