Divination to Subdue the Realm

One reading foretells three hundred years; half a life in hardship, half a life as a king.

Lin Mingzheng, a modern diviner, uses the sixty-four hexagrams to glimpse the great truths of heaven and earth. He calculates that his first half of life is destined to be wretched, so he uses his mortal body to cast a hexagram and protect his own fate. When the reading is complete, heaven and earth turn upside down. His divination clashes with the sorcery of a Qing dynasty shaman atop Mount Tai, and his soul transmigrates three hundred years into the body of the Fourth Prince, who was sacrificed by the First Prince and the Crown Prince.

The Fourth Prince's soul ascends to heaven, while the First Prince and the Crown Prince switch souls, plunging the court into chaos. From then on, Lin Mingzheng moves between the modern and ancient worlds: in the modern city, he meditates and endures humiliation, refusing to compete or fight; at court in the Qing dynasty, he becomes a live-in son-in-law and patiently bides his time.
