Know Your Fate, But Never Surrender to It

Lin Shi, the last diviner of the Guigu lineage to enter the mortal world.

He can calculate everything under heaven, yet cannot calculate whether he will live past thirty.

He can see how everyone's life will end, yet is powerless to change anyone's fate.

Before his master died, he told him, "If all you can do is see but not change anything, then these eyes will be your calamity."

Three events, three lives, and three times knowing the truth but being unable to save anyone, each ending in despair.

Then, in an ancient temple on Zhongnan Mountain, he meditated for seven days and glimpsed the chessboard of the Heavenly Dao.

Three thousand worlds lay layered one upon another. The world he inhabited was no more than the "Third World."

When he tried to touch the chessboard, his soul was drawn inside.

When he opened his eyes again, it was the twentieth year of the Kangxi reign.

He was the fourth son of Kangxi, Aisin Gioro Yinzhen.
