Why are foreign names so long?

The plot is quite good, it's World War I and World War II Germany in a different world. It's a pity that the author can no longer write. I think the last chapter is well written. The author contrasts the final encounters between the head of state and the protagonist, cleverly expressing the social situation. There is also the last paragraph of the head of state salute, which shows the emotion of "the veteran is not dead, but just withered". Maybe this is the sense of honor of the military?
