The Green Code

The Qingtian Rice-Fish Co-Culture System in Zhejiang is a pilot project for the protection of a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System. It was among the first sites recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, becoming China's first World Agricultural Heritage site.

This novel portrays an ensemble cast, with the story beginning through the eyes of Ji Rou, a bewildered college graduate. After returning to Longxian Village, she joins forces with Chen Yingxu, an overseas Chinese who has struggled to find success abroad, and Zhao Anfu, a Taobao shop owner with poor sales, to become "new farmers" and start their own businesses.

Using their intelligence and resourcefulness, they overcome one challenge after another, promote agricultural innovation in the Qingtian Rice-Fish Co-Culture System in Zhejiang, and scientifically and rationally improve and optimize the system.

Then, responding to a call to action, the three bring the rice-fish co-culture system into every aspect of daily life. They work to build a model village known for its premium rice and fish, protecting the environment while increasing villagers' incomes and achieving "harmony between humanity and nature."

With courage and resolve, the three take on the responsibilities and mission of new farmers, putting into practice the belief that clear waters and green mountains are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver.
