When Ding Xiaopeng was eight, he was nearly killed after touching a high-voltage wire with both hands. After four surgeries, both his arms were amputated high up to save his life. From then on, he endured one hardship after another. Through sheer determination, he trained himself to write with his feet, eat, and manage other daily tasks. Little by little, he emerged from adversity and grew into a master of his own life. He went on to win the world championship in long-distance running for athletes with disabilities, but suffered an unexpected setback while competing for a place at the Paralympic Games. After retiring, he failed repeatedly in business, yet picked himself up time and again until he found work suited to him. Through all the ups and downs, he also found love. As he made his way through life, he kept reflecting on its meaning and came to understand it deeply. He became certain that life's meaning lies not in defeating others or winning medals, but in continually awakening to oneself, understanding oneself, and surpassing oneself.
The first stage of his growth was typical of a person with a disability struggling with feelings of inferiority. Through competitiveness and hard work, he won various medals and victories, earning society's recognition. In the latter half of his journey, he began to turn inward. Through his actions, he helped more people with disabilities emerge from the darkness in their hearts. His understanding of fame and success also changed: once, he believed success meant happiness; now, he could face success or failure with equanimity, knowing that what mattered was feeling fulfilled within.
My heart aches for Xiaopeng, the author is unkind and gives him a ghost wife!
I hope those who work harder will be luckier! I wish Xiaopeng success!
