Burning Mountain, Shadowy Sea

Shadow puppetry, an intangible cultural heritage also known as "lamp-shadow plays" or "shadow plays," has a long history and an air of mystery.

A skilled shadow-puppet artist can both paint the puppets and perform the plays. On special festivals and occasions for praying and worshipping the gods, a performance is always part of the celebration.

But as times have changed, these local shadow-puppet traditions have gradually faded, and fewer and fewer young people are willing to take an interest in them.

Lin Chuning, a people-loving extrovert, could have made her mark after graduating from university. Instead, her grandfather's serious illness sends her to a northern old town to study this traditional art.

Manchu shadow-puppet singing is extremely difficult, and traditional culture is being battered by the fast pace of modern life. Protecting local shadow-puppet culture has become an enormous challenge.

Lin Chuning, an outsider who has stumbled into the troupe, must master the deepest skills in the shortest possible time. She also has to secretly help her senior apprentice land commercial performances, encourage her junior apprentice to communicate with others, and launch her own video channel dedicated to intangible cultural heritage. Then a major land crisis hits.

Can someone teach her how to be in several places at once?
