The Swordsman of Jin Yong's Dreams

In the turbulent years of the late Qing and early Republic, China was poor and weak, while the ambitions of the foreign powers grew ever bolder and their iron hooves trampled the land without respite. Yet those who loved martial arts and devoted themselves to training always had the will to prove their strength, and the courage to give their lives for their country.

Some martial artists of that era passed away, leaving behind a legacy of martial excellence renowned at home and abroad.

Others endured and lived on, quietly giving of themselves and shouldering the future of China.

There are countless literary works about Huo Yuanjia, but there were always other heroes among the people whose names went unrecorded.

This time, I write about another man: a great hero born in the same place and era as the famed hero of Tianjin, Huo Yuanjia. Their fates were vastly different, yet their legacies shone across north and south. The greatest heroes serve their country. We should remember him.
