Ascension? Take a Number First

Chen Guan, formerly a clerk in the Heavenly Court’s Infrastructure Department, is now a young man who’s fallen into another world. His magic treasure isn’t a flying sword, but an official seal of the Heavenly Dao. His supernatural powers aren’t spells, but a thick stack of the Interim Administrative Regulations for Otherworlds. When the Demon Lord tears open space and roars that he will destroy the world, Chen Guan adjusts his official hat and hands him a ticket: “Fellow cultivator, you crossed realms illegally and damaged the environment. That’ll be ninety million spirit stones. Are you paying on the spot or by card?” Later, he builds a toll station at the Southern Heavenly Gate and puts up a sign: “Tribulation crossings by appointment. Please queue in an orderly manner.” All the gods and Buddhas tremble before him. Chen Guan clears his throat and takes out a jade loudspeaker: “Don’t rush, everyone. We’re fully booked today. If you want to ascend, come back early tomorrow.”
