Sea of Glass

#RekindledLove

Three years later, Gu Hansheng found Zheng Baoyue again.

The gifted musician, who should have been studying the cello abroad, was on a blind date with a strange man in a remote, backward little town. He criticized her background, her personality, even the way she dressed.

She smiled and didn’t argue.

He drove the man away, but Zheng Baoyue wasn’t grateful.

As if she’d never met him before, she said, “Looking for Zheng Baoyue? She’s dead.”

Zheng Baoyue had spent twenty years as a rich young lady before discovering that she wasn’t Mrs. Zheng’s daughter, but an illegitimate child who had usurped someone else’s place.

The real Miss Zheng returned, and the Zheng family threw her out. Her old friends insulted her.

She went looking for Gu Hansheng, only to receive a slap from Mrs. Gu.

The abuse and humiliation wore down her self-respect and ruined the hand she played the violin with.

At last, she let go. Her biological mother took her back to Licheng, where she became Li Shanyi.

But Gu Hansheng moved into her guesthouse.

“I fell in love with Miss Li at first sight, and Miss Li fell in love with me over time.”

Only later did she learn what he meant by “over time.”
