I Married a Princess of the Former Dynasty. Do You Expect Me to Restore Her Kingdom?

Ling Xuan, a trainee doctor of Chinese medicine, is drunk by his colleagues and transmigrates to the end of the Sui dynasty. He gets a grand starter pack: a green hat (crossed out), a fake wig that belonged to an imperial physician's grandson, and a princess of the previous dynasty thrown in as a free bonus for his wife! On their wedding night, his bride, Ye Ziyan, is so beautiful she could be mistaken for either a man or a woman. She laps up a drop of blood from his heart with her tongue. “One cup of my husband's blood each month keeps my Zihuang familiar spirit alive. Sounds like a good deal, doesn't it?” Before he can even drink the wedding banquet wine, the Yuwen family's “Gray Harrier” stabs him in the kidney. Even the snake presented by the Red-Bearded Guest as a wedding gift is a ticking time bomb planted by an imperial physician of the previous dynasty! His uncle offers to make him heir and promises him mountains of gold and silver, but Ling Xuan soon finds himself taking the blame every day. He bears the Serpent Coiling Around the Moon curse. Each time he uses a familiar spirit, he loses three days of his life. And yet Prince Changping just smiles and hands him a shovel. “Dear nephew, go to the Demon-Suppressing Abyss and dig a canal for your uncle. If you dig all the way through to the divine capital, the credit is yours!” Ling Xuan: ...Are you asking me to dig the Sui dynasty's grave with my life? Even more absurd, the princess of the previous dynasty, who had been glaring coldly and threatening to shatter his heart meridians, says: “Husband, my cold poison is acting up. I need to drink blood... Wait, why are you growing snake scales on your arm?!” Ling Xuan: “Wifey, drink all the blood you want, but could you stop beating me until the curse is lifted?” Ye Ziyan: “Shut up. I'll personally send you on your way before I turn demonic.” Familiar spirits are the pieces, the realm is the board. So you've all been forcing me to restore the dynasty? Ling Xuan looks at his half-human, half-snake reflection and presses a silver needle to his heart meridian with a bitter smile. “Wifey, is it too late to write me a divorce letter?” Will he heal the people with a physician's compassion, or awaken his familiar spirit and plunge the world into chaos? Should he take the blame for this restoration plot or not?
