Record of the Sleeping Moon’s Demonic Passion

A baby’s sudden cry rang out from a house in the eastern part of the city. In the courtyard outside, the expectant guests were jubilant, congratulating one another on the newborn. Most overjoyed were Ye Junxing and his wife, Tao Jing, who had become parents in middle age, along with Bing Li, whose family had agreed to a betrothal between the children before they were born. But when the midwife carried a tiny, frail newborn out of the house, their joy gave way to worry. Bing Li, a physician as well as the child’s future father-in-law, examined the baby and determined that his meridians were too weak and his dantian too small for martial arts training. On the martial-arts-loving continent of Moonrest, people like him were called “good-for-nothings.” His family fretted over the child’s health and future. At forty, Ye Junxing gave his son the ordinary name Ye Xin. He only hoped that the boy would live a peaceful, uneventful life. At that moment, no one could have imagined that this frail baby, destined to be called a “good-for-nothing,” would lead an utterly extraordinary life. In the long river of history, everyone is but a shooting star. No matter how dazzling, each eventually fades away. Ye Xin, too, should have been just a fleeting passerby. Yet the miraculous hand of fate gave him a legendary life, one that left an indelible mark on the long course of history.
