Journey to the West: Defying Heaven

On the journey to the Western Heaven to obtain the scriptures, Sun Wukong refuses to be subdued. Using the scheme of the False and True Monkey Kings, Buddha Tathagata replaces him with the Six-Eared Macaque.

The Six-Eared Macaque protects Tang Sanzang as he obtains the scriptures and becomes the Victorious Fighting Buddha! Sun Wukong’s true body is destroyed, while his spirit is imprisoned in the desolate Spirit Mountain ravine, with the Great Sun Tathagata’s curse weighing upon him.

Tang Sanzang braves countless dangers to steal Wukong’s spirit away. Hunted by the Buddhas of the Western Heaven, he is forced to flee into the territory of Beiju Luzhou.

Unexpectedly, Beiju Luzhou, a place even the Buddhist and Celestial realms dare not set foot in lightly, turns out to be an ancient battlefield from the primordial age. The mysteries of Jin Chanzi’s origins, Sun Wukong’s bloodline, the Investiture of the Gods War, and many more are unraveled one by one...
