A Heart in Full Bloom

[Shaanxi Province Designated Life Experience Project Supported Work] With a light in your heart, you can bloom like a flower! Maihua is an ordinary village woman from Panlongchuan, Zhiyuan Town, Xunyi County. Her husband, Chen Jinshui, is bedridden with paralysis, and the immense pressure of daily life has left her suffering from depression for years. With the help of Liu Haishan, the town's women's affairs officer, Maihua picks up the scissors she once planned to use to end her life and learns paper-cutting at a handicraft cooperative. In the world of paper-cutting, Maihua not only heals her depression, but also sets out to lead the eleven other women in her village, who like her cannot leave Panlongchuan, and use the scissors in their hands to carve out a broad road to prosperity unique to the people of Xunyi. This novel explores a new issue in rural revitalization: how to care for the mental health of rural women left behind in their villages. It is also a song of life celebrating rural women's resilience and refusal to bow to poverty or fate.
