I’m a Local Official. What’s Wrong with Running the Office by Reading Comments?

The good news: Lin Yang was reborn as a mayor! The bad news: this county-level city was more than 30 billion yuan in debt!

Lin Yang had the responsibility of leading Yishan City out of poverty and into prosperity. On his first day there, he made his account public on a short-video platform and set one rule:

I made my account public for one reason only: fairness! Fairness! And more damn fairness! Fellow citizens, if you encounter anything unfair, leave a comment! City management bullying businesses? Deal with it today! Problems with the tap water? Investigate immediately! A hospital stealing medical insurance funds? Follow up at once! A shady hotel built illegally? Tear it down right away! The city's agricultural products aren't selling? Life is hard, so the mayor will livestream a performance and sell some goods while he's at it!

Starting with the comments, Lin Yang built factories, repaired roads, built schools and hospitals, and revitalized Yishan City's economy...

The Party Secretary spoke with him: "Lin Yang, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Lin Yang: "I just want to improve people's livelihoods and the economy. Whoever makes life hard for the people of Yishan City, I'll make life hard for them!"
