A Simple Life of Longing

Yi Yi, 28, a top-tier star and singer, retires with no scandals.

No one knows he's a transmigrator, and no one knows that in his previous life he was a superstar in the music scene, only he worked himself to death onstage.

This time, he's learned his lesson.

After leaving the military at twenty, he made his debut and spent eight years recreating all the classics from his previous life. He saved enough for retirement, and accumulated a host of ailments. A herniated disc, vocal nodules, mild depression. His doctor tells him that if he keeps pushing himself like this, he won't live to fifty.

Yi Yi retires without a second thought.

He returns to his hometown and the little villa by Shangguan Lake, where he fishes, cooks, and sunbathes, living the good life.

Then, on the third day after his retirement, the production crew of Yearning for Life shows up at his door. Even more absurdly, his mother rented out the villa three months ago.

The director's eyes light up. "Would you be willing to be our ordinary homeowner?"

Yi Yi: "...If I say no, will you leave?"

Teacher He laughs his head off nearby.

From then on, the "ordinary" life of a retired top-tier star becomes a slow-paced variety show watched by the whole country.

And the "farewell gifts" he prepares for each guest, all classic scripts and songs that set the market ablaze in his previous life, leave the director on his knees.

What kind of ordinary person is he? He's a walking money-printing machine.
