Fleeing to Hong Kong to Escape Marriage, I Caught the Eye of a Younger Man

At her wedding, Si Man turned herself into the laughingstock of the entire city. Though she was the one who had been wronged, her parents saw her as a “sinner”... It was fine, she told herself. She could simply start over. But she never expected someone in Hong Kong to be waiting for her. Late on her first night there, she was drinking herself into a stupor by the sea when someone took the bottle from her hand. “Drinking alone when you’re upset makes it easy to get drunk, sis.” She looked up into a face so handsome it almost dazzled her: Jiang Xunjiao. As clean and bright as the California sunshine she remembered, he was crouching in front of her now, with a look in his eyes she had never seen before. “What are you doing here?” she asked. He smiled. “Waiting for you.” At the time, she thought he was just being polite. Only later did she learn he meant it. From California to Hong Kong, he had waited three years: for her to return that man’s ring, and for the day he would finally be entitled to stand before her. Si Man thought he had come to be her healing sunshine. She was wrong. At the guesthouse, Jiang Xunjiao pinned her behind the door. “I wanted to say this back in California, sis... I want you.” “Did you think you came to Hong Kong to heal?” “You’re my prey, finally caught in the net.” She came to escape the storm. He came to close the net. She thought it was healing. He called it a hunt. From the moment they met in California, he never intended to be just her little brother.
