At first glance, he took a liking to the adorable little girl;

At second glance, he thought her mother was quite amusing;

At third glance, he decided to bring the mother and daughter under his wing.

At first glance, she thought this man was no ordinary person;

At second glance, she was certain he would make a capable father;

At third glance, she agreed to marry him and climbed into the bridal sedan with her daughter.

One was the lowliest illegitimate daughter in the Grand Tutor's household, notorious as a disgraced woman, and she even had a little burden in tow.

The other was the noblest legitimate son of the Phoenix Dynasty, the ideal husband of every young woman. He was nearly twenty, yet had neither a consort nor children.

Two people of vastly different status, and a marriage the world had no faith in, still managed to thrive and enjoy a colorful, fulfilling life:

Her man, his reactions:

A childhood sweetheart comes calling?

One simple word: Get lost!

The child's biological father shows up?

A kick from those long legs: Why don't you just go die!

The great general who guards the nation wants to take her away and flee this troubled place?

Fuming with rage: Do you think I'm already dead, you know? I'm the Sixth Prince!

His woman, her strategies:

Three concubines at home?

A calm smile: What does that have to do with me?

A subordinate sends over ten beauties?

She blinks her innocent eyes: Why are you giving them to me?

A princess from a neighboring kingdom insists on marrying him?

She packs her things: Then marry her! I'll gladly give up my place as the principal consort!

In the end, the prince goes berserk: Woman, why do you never show your joy, anger, sorrow, or happiness?

In the end, the princess is exasperated: Man, why do you insist on driving me into a rage?

Scene One:

My beloved consort, I outsmarted that old fossil in court again today. It was so satisfying! Hahaha!

Why aren't you saying anything?

Congratulations, Your Highness. I offer you my best wishes. Your Highness is mighty, invincible in all the world, and may you live ten thousand years, ten thousand years, ten thousand ten thousand years.

Scene Two:

My beloved consort, I gave in to my savage instincts today and killed your dog to feast our guests.

Oh.

Don't you have anything else to say?

No.

Why? That dog had been with you and Qing'er for five years!

First, it was only an animal, and an old one already waiting to die. By killing it, Your Highness helped it find release sooner. Second, it was mine, and everything of mine belongs to Your Highness. What right do I have to comment on what Your Highness does with your own things? Third, Your Highness is a lord above all others. If it makes you happy, what is the sacrifice of a mere dog's life? Fourth...

Someone, give the princess her dog back!

Scene Three:

My beloved consort, my elder brother has taken a fancy to our daughter and wants to betroth her to the crown prince as his crown princess.

No.

Why not?

Marriage between collateral relatives within three generations is forbidden.

I don't understand what you're saying. In any case, I've already agreed to my elder brother's request. The imperial edict will arrive any moment.

My beloved consort?

You son of a bitch!

Huh? My beloved consort, you, you spoke?

You son of a bitch! Just because this tiger doesn't roar, you think I'm a sick cat? Give my daughter back her right to choose whom she marries, right now!

P.S. This novel is exaggerated, satirical, absurd, and full of outrageous twists. It is not a normal story, not a story with deep meaning, and certainly not a work of refined taste. Anyone looking for a serious drama should look elsewhere.
