For the past couple of years, I’ve mostly been reading historical romance. The older I get, the harder it is to accept how novelists understand and portray real life. Good historical romances are easier to find and enjoy than contemporary romances, after all, their settings are unfamiliar to me.
Fun, Feel-Good Female-Oriented Novels
Novels I’ve read that are good, interesting, and original Most are new, though there are also completed books and ones with lots of chapters already. There may also be some male-oriented novels without romance. I don’t like formulaic stories or romances so sugary they make your teeth hurt. I prefer female leads who stand on their own as people, rather than living in a man’s shadow or being surrounded by awful people and acting like a miserable saint with a warped view of the world.
