This list is mostly fantasy, but also includes workplace and urban fiction.
There are quite a few classics by big-name authors. I know many of you feel you've read most of the classics I recommend, but I bet few have read every one. For example, not many readers have probably read all four of these: God of Slaughter, Hunting the Country, Heavenly Bead Change, and Purple River.
These books became classics for a reason: they have something special, and I've read and enjoyed them myself. Everyone's tastes are different, so naturally people will feel differently about them. But they're definitely not bad, which is why I still think they're worth recommending.
I haven't read some of the newer books, but new authors promoting their work have it tough too. I don't have time to read them all, so I'll just pick a few with promising blurbs and openings.
I've always believed that the most important thing about a novel is that it's enjoyable to read, especially online fiction. If it can't manage that, there's not much point discussing anything else.
Some people call certain books simplistic, but I think a book that finds a wide audience must have something special that touches people's hearts. Besides, online fiction is meant to entertain. Having fun is what matters, so don't be too hard on the authors. Writing a book isn't easy!!!
