The Midnight Pianist

We are all racing to survive on the margins of the city, and Wang Beila was already behind from the start. Ling Sheng pulled her to her feet time and again, but could never stay by her side until the end of the race. The lights were simply too bright, leaving you unable to see the beauty of the black and white keys. You were too obsessed, and I lost myself for your sake. Wang Linfeng stood on the towering stage, looking down at Wang Beila as she gazed up at him. “This is fate,” he said. “I had to sacrifice you to find myself again.”

When the darkness enveloped Wang Beila completely and there was no light ahead, the arrival of another person decided the outcome of her battle. Wang Beila silently told herself, “Thank you. You made me fall so deeply in love with the piano. But I’m sorry. Now I’m going to destroy you with the thing I love most.”
