The Emperor and Empress

Don't think men are the only ones with a world of their own. Women have one too. Don't think men are the only ones who wage war. Women do that just as well. Within the Forbidden City, enclosed by towering walls on all four sides, lived a group of women. Trapped by love and pressured by power, they envied and hurt one another, yet all shared the same helplessness and loneliness! They were beautiful, yet often took pride in their own solitude; young, yet filled with endless sorrow; clever, yet often unable to escape others' schemes. They struggled, yet could not break free from the web of fate! And so some wept, while others laughed; some fled, while others died; some loved, and others hated!
