The Yin Talisman Keeper

Everyone says Maoshan disciples wield talismans and swords, slay ghosts and guide souls, and uphold justice on Heaven's behalf.

Xie Heng is the sole exception.

Once a rare genius of the Tiangang Sect of Maoshan, he witnessed his own sect sheltering evildoers and turning right into wrong. In a fury, he tore up his Taoist credentials, delved into forbidden arts, and became the Maoshan renegade denounced by the entire orthodox world.

He does not cultivate serenity and non-action, nor does he believe in the merciful will of Heaven.

When vengeful ghosts claim lives, it is often the living who planted the seeds. The realms of yin and yang too often turn a blind eye to the world's sins.

The orthodox sects love to save the virtuous and steer clear of powerful, wicked fiends;

Shen Yan only slays the wicked. He does not guide wronged souls onward.

The sinister mark in his palm draws fiendish energy; a single sheet of yin talisman decrees the execution. He walks the narrow divide between yin and yang, dealing with the evil in people's hearts that the law cannot punish and the gods and Buddhas ignore.

Others fear ghosts; he fears hypocrites. The world seeks righteous enlightenment; he only wants to wield fiendish energy as a blade and settle the sins hidden beneath the cloak of benevolence and righteousness.

Yin fiendish energy gnaws at his soul day and night, and every full moon brings bone-deep agony.

The path he walks has never offered a return.

If Heaven is unjust, then I will deliver judgment in its shadow.
