Reborn While Wandering at a Ruined Temple, Xiao Yanzi First Registers Her Household

In her previous life, a twist of fate made her Princess Huanzhu. Trapped in the palace's tangled grudges, she weathered one upheaval after another and endured a life of hardship. Only at the very end did she understand that all that splendor was a fleeting dream. A household registration and a little house sheltered from the wind were what a displaced person truly needed to put down roots.

When she opened her eyes, Xiao Yanzi was young again, back in the days when she wandered from place to place.

The cold wind tore through the ruined mountain shrine. She had only a dozen or so copper coins in her pocket, and was still an unregistered wanderer, helpless against anyone who chose to bully her, with nowhere to stay.

In this life, she would not go to the imperial hunting grounds or acknowledge the emperor as her father. She would steer clear of Ziwei and avoid every upheaval from the original story.

She had to hide her copper coins and save them little by little, while keeping her long-term plans in mind.

First things first: find a kind guarantor, ask the village head and the head of the local unit to vouch for her, and apply for supplementary registration. She would shed her status as a wanderer and become an ordinary subject of the Great Qing, openly and honorably.

Once her household registration was settled, she could openly go into the mountains to gather goods, earn a living at the market, and slowly save up enough to buy a little woodshed and make it her home.

Gathering mountain produce in spring and harvesting grain in autumn, she would tend her own little courtyard, eat hot meals, sleep soundly, and live as a country swallow rooted in the soil, with no thought for the imperial palace.
