I Was a Divine Bird, and Evolving into a God Makes Perfect Sense

After dying suddenly from overwork, office drone Ling Yu opens his eyes as the lowest of the low: a gray sparrow in the ruins of Yu Mountain. Pecked by tits, chased by eagles, and hunted across the mountains by demon hunters, he somehow swallows a blood-red pill fragment. An evolution tree appears in his mind: [Bloodline: Sparrow (Incomplete)] [Next Stage: Azure Bird, Progress 1/10]. Devour the bloodlines of demon beasts and unlock evolution nodes. Sparrow → Azure Bird → Bi Fang → Three-Legged Golden Crow → Phoenix → Kunpeng! An old crow pours cold water on him: "You can count the surviving descendants on one claw." Ling Yu shakes his bluish feather tips. "I was a divine bird to begin with. Evolving into a god makes perfect sense, right?"
