A Name Left on a Broken Stele

Everyone is born with only a hundred thousand words. Once they have said them all, they die.

Wen Sheng's word count is zero.

In Luoming Town, he fills in the final words of the dead and helps the living finish their sentences. For three years, all he has wanted is to learn the truth about his parents' deaths and protect the little girl who calls him "big brother," though she doesn't even have a real name.

Then he fills in the last half of a sentence for a woman who forgot her daughter right there in the street: "My daughter is called..."

The next day, the entire street begins to forget its own names.

The Office of Civil Officials comes to investigate, then the Sect of Silence, and then the Manuscript-Burning Society.

He makes his way into the Office of Civil Officials, serves on the frontier, and infiltrates the Literary Abyss, only to discover that this world is the final testament left behind by the ancient Progenitor of Letters, and that its words are being forgotten one by one.

Only he, the "Zero-Word One," can complete the final sentence.

But with every word he speaks, one stroke is erased from his own name.

This is the story of a group of people: the girl who most wants to die, the proudest poet, the strongest swordsman, the greediest merchant, the most radiant saint... Each of them dies for the thing they believe in most, and he remembers their names for them.

Before the world forgets him completely, he must finish the world's final sentence.

Even if, once he has said it, no one remembers him.
