The Rebuilder

Three years ago, Shen Yi's assessment drove a suspect to the twenty-third floor.

Three years later, he gets by catching cheating spouses and finding lost cats, rust covering every inch of him as he refuses to speak of murder cases.

Until that rainy night: a bathroom, shallow water, a body lying face down, ruled an "accident," and a crime-scene floor plan precise to the centimeter. On the back of the blueprint, someone had written one character in pencil: Shen.

Someone isn't killing people. They're assigning him homework.

"Traces never lie." Shen Yi put on his gloves. "It's the person choosing which traces to leave who lies."

A showdown over the "perfect crime scene" begins.
