A Visitor to Bianjing

(A slow-burn start. The male lead has only just arrived in another world and is still getting used to life after transmigrating.)

During the Yuanfeng era, the Song scholar Shen Jibai repeatedly failed the imperial examinations. He wakes up in a study room in 2026.

The person who takes him in is Zhou Xu, a programmer who works 996 hours and is so socially anxious that he only wants to talk to his cat.

Shen Jibai is learned in the classics, yet knows nothing about microwaves or transit cards. He carries with him fragments of policy essays he spent ten years writing. One essay, proposing reforms to the grain transport system, is unexpectedly discovered by Zhou Xu.

The two package the ancient proposal as a modern business analysis article and publish it, setting off a huge sensation. A sharp-nosed venture capitalist follows the trail, determined to uncover the mysterious author's identity.

As time goes on, Shen Jibai begins to realize that his transmigration was never an accident. The proprietress of the ancient-book restoration studio beneath the study building seems to have been waiting for him for a thousand years.
