The Investiture of the Gods: The Calamity of the North Sea

Wen Zhong, Grand Preceptor of the Shang, was a divine general with three eyes and a pair of male and female steel whips, dispatched by imperial decree to campaign in the north. Three thousand rebel soldiers vanished into thin air, and writhing black frost formed inside their armor. Before departing, his master, the Golden Spirit Holy Mother, left him with a warning: "Don't trust your eyes." Yet she also hinted that the origins of the third eye on his forehead concealed another secret. When the shadow of the Norse gods descended from beyond the heavens, Eastern and Western mythologies collided with a thunderous crash. Wen Zhong discovered that this rebellion was only a crack, and behind it lay an outer calamity devouring the Heavenly Dao itself. He was not defending the Shang dynasty, but the right of mortals to choose what they believed in.

Wen Zhong set out for the North Sea, thinking he was quelling a rebellion. In truth, he was fighting an invasion by an outer calamity that devoured the Heavenly Dao, and his third eye was the key to the crack.
