Detective 1997

In the height of summer in 1997, Yunzhou County in Yandu City, southern Sichuan, was battered by an exceptionally heavy rainstorm that lasted seven days and seven nights.

The Yunxi River at the foot of Tashan Mountain swelled and burst its banks, washing out the headless body of a woman wrapped in a woven sack.

There was no DNA database, no surveillance cameras lining the streets, and, without a head, they could not even identify the victim.

The detectives of the Yunzhou County Criminal Police Unit could only go door to door around the Yunxi River, hoping to find traces of the suspect.
