Global Wasteland: I Went Berserk by Sacrificing My Sense of Pain

Lu Shi, the strongest scavenger in the wasteland, has a fragment of an ancient god sealed inside him. While everyone else fights tooth and nail to evolve, he fights tooth and nail to "burn himself away." Taste, touch, pain, fear, language, memories... With every battle he wins, a little more of him dies. His teammates think he is cold and heartless, never realizing he has even burned away his ability to "be afraid." Then one day, as he drank a can of flavorless lemonade in the acid rain and watched a tavern glowing in the distance, he suddenly realized... He was almost forgetting "why he fought" at all. And yet he had remembered that flavorless drink for three years. The ancient god whispered in his ear: "You were always a part of me." Lu Shi wiped the black blood from his blade and smiled. "Even ashes can burn."
