Prison Ultimatum

Shen Yu, a senior undergraduate student who was preparing for the law exam, woke up and became a poor scholar in the Daqi Dynasty waiting to be executed later in the year. A woven case file, an unjust case of robbery and murder concocted by a squire and the county magistrate in collusion. He was shackled and his death date was approaching. There is no presumption of innocence here, confessions are more important than anything else, torture is the norm, the powerful can confuse right and wrong, and ordinary people complain, and there are thorns at every step. He has no sword in his hand, no power in his pocket, no martial arts skills, and no adventure from heaven. The only thing I rely on is the awareness of evidence, logical deduction, procedural thinking that has been ingrained into my bones through four years of law studies, as well as the repeated study of the "Daqi Law" of this dynasty. Trapped in jail, he did not rely on force to survive, but only found hope in the gaps in the files, contradictions in confessions, and procedural flaws. Dismantle perjury, analyze oral confessions, examine physical evidence, and ask for review. Don't expect the nobles to be compassionate, just hope that the rules themselves can be implemented. Clearing one's own grievances is just the beginning. The squires are running rampant, the subordinate officials are greedy, injustice cases are piling up, and the people have no way to appeal. His status as a scholar is limited, and his status as a litigator is despised. Within the boundaries of the law, he helps the lower class people distinguish right from wrong. Behind each case is an intricate network of interests of officials and gentry. Confrontation in court, examination of documents, and trial at various levels. Don't ask for a change of dynasty, don't ask for a position of supreme minister. I just hope that the fabricated guilt can be refuted, that the evildoers can abide by the law, that the buried grievances can be vindicated, and that in troubled times, we can gain the weight that the law deserves.
