Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Jun Mohen

Tu Shan Rongrong had never made a miscalculation in her life. She was used to putting a price on everything and taking human hearts apart piece by piece. For the chance to bring about "peace between humans and demons," she personally built Tu Shan Yi, entrusted to her care, a cage called "home." She taught him to read, to judge people, and to cultivate. She made him her shadow, patiently honing him into the perfect blade, then sent him to the very heart of a game that would change the world. She thought it was just a perfect "investment," but she had failed to account for the human heart, and especially her own. She never noticed that the boy she had trapped in that cage was using his untainted innocence and wholehearted devotion to become the gentlest of blades, quietly freeing her from the cold cage of "calculation." Then Tu Shan Yi finally came into his own, and the grand opportunity for peace arrived. The lies came to light. Cold rain pelted the bluestone pavement. Soaked through, Tu Shan Yi stared at the person before him in disbelief, his eyes red as blood, his voice trembling in the storm. "Was this... another one of your schemes, Sister Rongrong?" Tu Shan Rongrong stood silently in the rain, letting the water run down her chin. The fox eyes that were always curved like crescent moons had lost their light. She looked at the boy who had once seen no one but her, and the heart she had worked over with her abacus a thousand times fell into utter chaos. She knew that if she tried to explain, or even told one more lie, they could go back to how things used to be. But looking into those shattered eyes, she suddenly felt so tired. She slowly lowered her gaze and stopped wiping the rain from her face. She didn't want to lie to him anymore.
