The Dead Have Yet to Arrive

At 1:17 a.m., Lin Zhao received a death notice. The deceased was him. The time of death was three o'clock. The person who signed for it was his sister, who had been missing for seven years. Then he appeared in his own funeral hall. A man with his face lay in the coffin. Each of the seven guests had something to hide, and the staff were urging the family to identify the body. This was only the beginning. A last train with no final stop, a hospital ward whose patients kept changing, an old apartment building with one fewer household every night... Each time he entered one of these places, he found traces left by his sister and uncovered clues he'd missed in the previous investigation. Lin Zhao began preserving every piece of evidence, including the lies his companions told. Until he discovered that someone had already signed for his death notice once, seven years ago.
