Dustbound Immortal Rebel

Bored, the Heavenly Dao created a world But a demon god arose there, one it did not like. Perhaps it was too lazy to crush him itself; perhaps it was simply bored. So it brought in a Child of Destiny and waited for the two to kill each other. The demon god was defeated and sealed away. Ten thousand years later, Lin Ye came into contact with the seal. It broke, and the demon god possessed him. Believing he had gained an immense opportunity, he climbed the heavenly ladder, defied fate, battled the Heavenly Dao, and fought the Child of Destiny, swearing to win even half a move against heaven. Until the final battle, when the Child of Destiny and I fought until we were both gravely wounded It awoke inside me, plucked the entire board away with a single gesture, and yet could never kill the god who created the world. So I had never been the one moving the pieces. I was only bait, meant to die alongside the Child of Destiny. The Child of Destiny died. The demon god survived. I broke free of its possession and looked back at the ruined board: The Heavenly Dao was still the god who made the jar, the demon god was still a prisoner in the jar who could never turn the world upside down, And from beginning to end, I had been no more than an inconsequential piece tossed onto the board as the two of them played their game. I battled heaven, defied fate, and killed the Child of Destiny Yet in the end, I was always one move short.
