Su Chun Returns to the Ruins: A Mortal Forges His Own Path

In the ancient and boundless Mystic Wilderness, the world was still untamed. Fierce beasts roamed, wild energy filled the land, and humanity was no more than grass beneath their feet, with no arts to defend themselves and no Way to rely on. Zhao Jingchun came into the world one day with no divine powers and no special opportunities. All he had was a frail mortal body and a pair of eyes that quietly observed the world. No spiritual roots, no System, no inheritance from the heavens. He hid in the wilds, observing the cycles of life and decay in plants and trees and the flow of wild energy. Between life and death, he explored ways to nourish the body and strengthen its foundations, carving out a path for humanity to survive. People used the methods he created to develop the arts of immortals and demons, wage wars, seek eternal life, and seize power over the ages. His disciple Shi Yan marched into a desperate situation, took a different path, and ignited a century of war. All under Heaven revered him as the source of all Ways, bowing and begging him to accept the sacred title of Dao Ancestor. Yet Zhao Jingchun had been a mortal from beginning to end. He opened the Great Way but created neither immortals nor demons; he passed on methods to save others but never ruled the universe. War set mountains ablaze, history books were rewritten, the prosperous age was consumed by greed, and the human heart was beyond saving. When a century had passed and the dust finally settled, the titles of immortals and demons vanished like smoke. He kept his mortal bones and calmly returned to the earth. A mortal opens the Way, and a mortal returns to the void. The Great Way has never belonged to immortals or demons. It belongs only to the original hearts of all living beings.
