Cooking My Way Home

A modern soul transmigrates into the body of an impoverished scholar. His home is bare, and food is already scarce; one more mouth to feed could leave them with nothing to eat. On a desolate road, he finds an orphaned girl fleeing famine. He does not take her as a servant or seek to possess her beauty. He accepts her as family. By the warmth of their humble hearth and over simple meals, the two find comfort in their years of hardship. He studies at his desk, seeking a way forward through the imperial examinations, while she keeps their home and carves out a place for herself amid the turmoil of the age.
