Jade Taiji

He was the elder brother, and the other was the younger. The elder met the younger while he was still wandering. Back then, the younger was the second son of an impoverished warlord, and he had gone three days without eating, drinking only dirty water. On the day they met, the elder had just stolen a bun and had only just turned the corner after the bun shop owner chased him in a fury. Then he saw the younger's watery eyes. That was the beginning of the six years they would spend bound together. Later, the younger's parents found him. They had intended to take the elder along too, but circumstances forced him to decline. And so the younger walked away, looking back again and again as he went. The elder struggled to keep the orphanage going in the cracks of a war-torn world, while the younger kept waging campaigns to consolidate his power. One day, a ragged little beggar stole a bun and was chased by a burly man, cursing as he ran. Distracted, the child bumped into a young man in military uniform. As they brushed past each other, the beggar stole a jade pendant from him. When the young military officer returned to his commander's residence, he realized that the pendant his big brother, who had once given him a bun as a child, had sent him was gone. The younger brother flew into a rage and ordered his guards to search every inch of the ground for it. Meanwhile, the elder, watching the most mischievous and youngest child in the whole orphanage, handed him the pendant. After hearing the child's description of the officer's appearance, he guessed that the pitiful little boy from long ago had come back. When the young officer learned where the beggar had ended up, he remembered that he too had spent six springs there as a child. His boundless anger vanished in an instant.
