When the Whistle Falls Silent, the Qin Begins to Play

Nan Zhi is the most formidable public physical education instructor at the university. Hot-tempered and intolerant of insincerity, she was left heartbroken by a disastrous relationship years ago and has shut herself off from love ever since. Anyone who tries to flirt with her gets shut down immediately. Students and colleagues alike know not to cross her boundaries. Lu Yanzhen, a newly hired instructor in the instrumental music department, is strikingly handsome and aloof, with a cool, distant nature. He spends most of his time with the piano and keeps all women who approach him at arm’s length. Rumor has it he has no interest in women, and he never even shows up at the academy’s mixers. They first cross paths when Nan Zhi is held up by troublemaking students on the training field. He happens to pass by, but watches coldly without the slightest intention of helping. They trade barbs on the spot and become enemies. After that, they’re forced together at every turn: sharing the gym for classes, living in neighboring faculty dorms, and being paired up for the university sports meet. Like two needles pointed at each other, every encounter bristles with tension. Nan Zhi is determined to stay away from this cool beauty, but the harder she tries to avoid him, the more often she finds herself caught in his quiet, fathomless gaze. Her once-unbreakable heart, which trusted no one, slowly develops a crack she refuses to admit is there.
