Our Sect Is on the Run

For three years, Li Jing has written recruitment stories for Lingyun Sect: “Our founder subdued the Eastern Sea with a single sword, and our sect’s swordsmanship is the finest in Jiuzhou.” He hasn’t recruited a single disciple, but the mountain beneath his feet believes every word. One night, the mountain opens its mouth and asks, “When are we going to take on the greatest under heaven?” The next day, the entire sect, people and halls alike, blocks the entrance to Sword Sect. The mountain delivers a challenge on behalf of the sect leader. The sect leader makes an excuse about going back to fetch his sword, then turns and shouts one word: “Run!” Sword Sect chases them down for a duel, and the Dragon Palace pursues them to collect an old debt. Li Jing has no choice but to keep making things up: “True masters never stay in one place.” The mountain nods enthusiastically and runs even faster. It thinks it’s making a name for itself, while the whole sect just wants to live long enough to eat dinner. Worst of all, it remembers every single thing Li Jing has ever made up.
