The 1990s: From International Smuggler to Capitalist Mogul

The 1990s, an era full of opportunity.

On the eve of the Soviet Union's collapse, the cardsharp Yang Lin arrives with his memories intact.

Buried in gambling debts, with men wielding knives, guns, and cannons at his door, ready to dump him in the Songhua River to feed the fish,

he relies on his skill at rigging games and his knowledge of the times

and starts out as a border trader in the Far East, building his own business empire.

Years later, Yang Lin stands on his private island,

watching a steady stream of trade ships pass through the docks

and the infrastructure projects still expanding around him.

He says calmly, "No wonder everyone wants to become capital."
