Memoirs of the Ashen Wasteland

Year 3057 of the Tianji Calendar. As one of the world's rare S-rank talent holders, Ji Dian graduates from the Paranormal Affairs Bureau without a hitch. He thinks he can finally head to the battlefield, fight the eerie beasts from the Void to protect humanity, make a name for himself, and drive the beasts back. But the director gives Ji Dian one final order: solitude! Plan codename: Mosaic Defense! Ji Dian heads to the wilderness, beyond the reach of the rift jammers. Alone, he becomes an army unto himself, guarding against the eerie beasts from the wild. Over ten years, the rifts spanning thousands of kilometers are destroyed by Ji Dian's immense power. But the organization still hasn't sent anyone to relieve him! After rescuing a young woman, Ji Dian returns from the desolate wilderness to human society. His home is gone! The Eight Great Financial Clans have colluded with the Beast Consortium and sold out the human world. The Paranormal Affairs Bureau has been wiped out. Eerie beasts have fully integrated into human society and become first-class citizens, while humans have been reduced to second-class citizens. The once-regular army has become a rebel force. Most of the ability users who once led the resistance against the eerie beasts have become their lackeys, and the Eight Great Financial Clans have become an eternal royal dynasty. Women go wild over eerie beasts wearing exquisite human skins, while men are reduced to providers of reproductive material just to get a meal. The world has gone mad! Yet Ji Dian grips two steel blades, never forgetting the mission entrusted to them by the Paranormal Affairs Bureau. Night deepens, and dawn is nowhere in sight! Only the long blade in his hand and the fire in his heart can light the way ahead. Mosaic Defense Plan... Initiate!
