The Divine Fall Sutra

This is a book about waking up. It tells of one person rising to his feet from the earth. It also tells of how a people returned a world, hidden from them by the gods for countless millennia, to the light. The story takes place in a land called the Great Wilderness. There are no dynasties and no heroes here, only “sinners” raised like livestock by the gods for generation after generation. Red rain falls from the sky, and temples lie buried beneath the earth. People are born only to kneel and worship. Until one young man named Jiang Chen spread open his palm on a night drenched by red rain. A tiny white spark rested there. It did not burn wood or grass. It only illuminated. It pierced the red rain overhead, the benevolent mask on the divine envoy’s face, and the sheet of paper between the mortal world and the heavens, pasted together over a thousand years with threats and lies.
