A Race Across the Celestial River

The Celestial River changed course, and the continents fought to cross it. The boy Jiang Zhao from Baisha Ferry makes his living salvaging wreckage. One day, he pries half a copper ruler from a broken anchor, and from then on, he can see paths in the river that vanished long ago. Following the first old path, he rescues a passenger ship stranded in the shallows. Later, some ask him to guide their ships through a perilous pass that has swallowed countless vessels. Others ask him to find their loved ones on a sunken continent. Still others bring him a sea chart showing just twelve continents and ask him to choose who gets to survive. But his homeland is not among those twelve continents. The ancient river is running dry, and every living soul has a boat of their own. Jiang Zhao shoulders the river chart, growing older and larger with every passing day, and sets off from shore once more.
