Its wreckage contained a complete path of evolution: using oneself as a vessel and all things as fuel, one could cultivate from flesh and blood to mastery over the universe. Humanity called it "cultivation." Chen Yuan was sixteen that year. After practicing the officially released breathing technique for three cycles, his chest would grow warm. The toughest prodigy in his year practiced until he ended up in the infirmary, while Chen Yuan finished his session, slept as usual, and woke the next day more energetic than anyone. Everyone called him a genius. Only he knew something was wrong. The things deciphered from the spacecraft didn't feel like new knowledge as he learned them. It felt like he was reciting a language he'd forgotten. His body knew the answers before his mind did. Before he could understand why, his hands were already in the right position.
