The Dao of Qi and Divination

The myriad realms give rise to myriad laws, but only one Emperor can exist in each era. The Emperor’s laws and Great Dao are supreme. Whenever a cultivator who has attained the Dao breaks through the shackles of the Great Dao and condenses the rank of Emperor, their laws are engraved into the Great Dao. Their own Great Dao suppresses all others, forming an era in which one power stands alone. The Emperor is destined to be invincible in that era, revered by the entire cosmos and bearing the fortune of all living beings. But this world is flawed, and the path ahead is severed. The Emperor is the pinnacle of cultivation. Even after attaining that rank, an Emperor’s lifespan is generally only fifteen thousand years. As their life nears its end, their vitality wanes, their body decays, and the suppression exerted by their Great Dao gradually fades. At that point, they can either choose to sever their own cultivation, cut off their Great Dao, relinquish their rank as Emperor, and retreat to a strange land left behind from antiquity, transforming it into a forbidden zone of life. A few remnants of immortal laws remain there, greatly slowing the loss of their lifespan. Most of the time, they sleep, and they generally won’t leave the forbidden zone unless their lifespan is nearly exhausted. They are no longer called Emperors, but are known as Fallen Emperors or Supremes. The other choice is to transform into the Dao, waiting for their lifespan to run out and for their Great Dao and laws to return to the world. Or they can risk everything in a desperate gamble and live a second life. When an Emperor reaches the end of their life, they may also be attacked by Fallen Emperors. Anyone who can become an Emperor is an unparalleled prodigy, someone who has suppressed an entire era. Yet the tragedy of this world is that its laws are incomplete and it cannot bear the rank of an immortal. Countless peerless talents have fallen at the final step to immortality, turning to bones. Perhaps becoming an immortal is nothing more than a legend.
