Records of the Nine Immortal Palaces

After the Battle to Seal the Heavens, the Heavenly Court separated the Hidden Realm from the mortal world with a barrier. Nine immortal palaces float above a sea of clouds, each governed by one of the nine Immortals, who preside over the Daoist traditions. Mortals have forgotten the ways of cultivation, while cultivators carry on the immortal legacy in the Hidden Realm. A thousand years ago, the peerless genius Mo Xuanxiao stole the Chaos Spirit Root and went mad while cultivating. His soul split into seven fragments of karmic sin, which were hidden throughout the Three Realms. He became the Demon Lord Xuanxiao and was sealed by the nine Immortals working together. The prophecy says: “When the seven fragments reunite, the Demon Lord will return. Only the ‘Star of Calamity’ can break his cycle of rebirth.”
