He lived through the plague that ravaged the royal city and witnessed a prince's fall and his homeland's ruin. He saw with his own eyes the Light's fanaticism and indifference. With his faith utterly shattered, he would no longer blindly follow the Alliance's order. He scorned the Horde's conflicts, would not rely on the arcane, submit to the Void, or covet fel power. After traversing Northrend's frozen wastes, Outland's ravaged lands, and the desperate reaches of the Shadowlands, he awakened Azeroth's most primal force amid the ashes of countless wars: Emberfire. It was the only power of balance in the world. It favored neither light nor darkness, serving only to preserve the balance between life and death. From then on, he became a lone wanderer, unaffiliated with any faction. Bearing the secret of an origin erased by time, he traveled through the cracks of a world in chaos. The world called him a heretic, while all manner of forces coveted his unique power. The Light condemned him for betraying his faith, and the Void relentlessly corroded his mind. When the timeline finally collapsed, the Old Gods' lingering souls awakened, and disasters old and new swept across Azeroth.
