A Magistrate of Dazhao Prefecture: Catching a Flower Thief from the Start

[The author has worked in a related field for years, and all cases are based on real events. Editor's suggestion: It's too realistic. Either change the subject matter or set it in a fictional world.]

My name is Chen Zhang. I placed among the top three in the imperial examinations of the Great Zhao Dynasty, and serve as a seventh-rank prefectural judicial commissioner, in charge of criminal cases.

Normal stool is yellow. When the bile ducts are blocked, bile can't enter the intestines, and the stool turns white. The person's complexion must also be unusual. Chen Zhang pointed at a yellow-faced man. "This is what you left at the scene."

Fingerprints are unique from birth, with whorls and loops all differing. Even the ten fingers of one person are distinct. This print in the thin layer of ash matches your fingerprint down to the last detail. "You're the real killer."

Footprints aren't judged by shape alone, but also by depth and stride. The left print is deep and the right shallow, so this person has an injury to the right leg. The stride is one chi and three cun, and the forefoot touches down first, meaning he is used to walking at night. The stride matches, the toes point in the same direction, and the heel impressions are equally deep. "Who else could it be?"

With his criminal investigation System, Chen Zhang astonishes the world again and again.

The Case of the Wusheng Old Mother? That's it?

The Case of the Sunken Agarwood? Easy!

The Yuanyin Palace Coup? Nothing to it!

Can't I get something more challenging?

One day, fed up with how dull things were, Chen Zhang eagerly sought out the Crown Prince. "Your Highness, I believe there was something suspicious about the late emperor's death. I ask that Your Highness permit me to..."

The Crown Prince hurriedly covered his mouth. "Teacher, Father is in the prime of his life! You can't say things like that!"
