Dao Yan Defies the Dust

In the distant past, a cataclysmic battle shattered the complete world into nine continents. Tianyan, Cangxuan, Beilin, Ximo, Wanyao, Lanhai, Youming, Tianjian, and Taichu. Vast seas and heavenly chasms divide the continents, making travel between them immensely difficult. Tianyan Continent is divided into six great provinces, each containing four kingdoms: Nanzhou, Beizhou, Dongzhou, Xizhou, Zhongzhou, and Huangzhou. Below the provinces are kingdoms, each kingdom governs commanderies, each commandery oversees towns, and each town is home to clans. Cultivation depends on two gifts. The first is the spiritual root, innate from birth. It determines one’s ability to absorb spiritual energy and is ranked in ten grades: Common, Yellow, Profound, Earth, Heaven, King, Emperor, Venerable, Saint, and Sovereign. The second is the Dao Seed, awakened at the age of sixteen. It bears the origin of the Great Dao and has no grades, only three categories. Elemental Dao is the Common Dao, the mainstream path of the world. Manifestation Dao is the Rare Dao, found once in a hundred people and forged by tempering martial arts into the Dao. Law Dao is the Ultimate Dao, found once in ten thousand and wielding the fundamental laws of the world. The spiritual root is a spring, and the Dao Seed is a seedling. If the spring is weak but the seedling grows too lush, the source will inevitably turn against its bearer. The Great Dao is thin on Tianyan Continent, making it difficult for extraordinary gifts to emerge. Yet Ye Wuchen has a Profound-grade spiritual root and three Dao Seeds within him: the Zixiao Thunder Dao Seed, the Heaven-Sundering Sword Dao Seed, and the Void Space Dao Seed. The appearance of three Dao Seeds, with the Common, Rare, and Ultimate paths coexisting, is a taboo of the world. If word gets out, it will send the nine continents into turmoil!
